Thnaks for that. I have a hub page which im linking to from here. However, if you want to rank for a particular country outside the .com, you have to get alot of external links from that countries domain. For e.g my hup page is for solar power brisbane, which ranks well for google.com, but for solar power brisbane in Australia .au its on the 4th page.

Great points, very real perspective of what Twitter is and isn't. I've been thinking a lot about how tools like Twitter have an impact on how we communicate with people today. In a lot of ways, it really enhances the way we can interact with other...but it also takes away from it. I'd love to hear what people think about this topic: http://notabletv.com/2010/lifestyle/is-tech-helping-or-hurting-human-connection-tell-notable-what-you-think/

Linkbaiting is really hard, but when you get it right the links can be great.

I've just researched some linkbait posts on top domains to see how many links they attracted...interesting reading (sorry for link drop...but feel valuable to users!)

That’s a very interesting post that you have. I stumbled on a new one the other day. They look open for business, but very similar to linkedin.com with more of a social business directory look and feel. Nice clean interface though. It's at SocialTerrain.com

This is a great article! It is a challenge these days to find great resources for online businesses. When it comes to finding good domain names, I recommend http://www.squadhelp.com for finding great domain names. This site uses the "wisdom of crowds" allowing users across the world to submit domain name suggestions. The best suggestion wins a prize that is setup in advance by the contest holder, creating a win win situation for every one. Contests start at $35 and users typically receive 200+ good name suggestions within 2 days. Just thought your readers might find it interesting!

Great post. I love tangible examples of linkbait. I think it's getting harder and harder to come up with unique linkbait ideas, and even harder to pitch them to an increasingly cynical audience.

In my perspective link building should not be limited only to aquiring back links from external sources. A good way of improving your site's ranking power is to leverage your own content webpages.

Link juice/Authority passed between webpages from the same domain are just as valuable as that coming from other related websites.

This type of practice is better called in SEO as Silo-structuring a website and the core idea behind it is to separate the site into individual, ISOLATED categories or topics and then conduct link building campaigns for each of these sections or silos.

One thing to keep in mind is to heavily interlink webpages from the same category. References to other categories should be made only through links pointing to that category landing page and not to webpages within the category.

That's the short version of this silo structure strategy. Hope it helps!

Cheers,
Cristian

No kidding... From celebs to the local weatherman everyone's now yappin' just to yap. This is why we have personally bailed out of most social media activities. Some of it still has genuine value, but most of it is just noise.
